Quadrant2Design detail how our processes and unique stand system contribute to a safe exhibition stand installation.

How Quadrant2Design Ensure Safe Exhibition Stand Installation

Every construction process has its health and safety considerations and the exhibition industry is no different. Installation of exhibition stands typically requires the use of heavy machinery, power tools and some messy or hazardous materials, all of which come with significant safety concerns.

During installation and dismantle days, exhibition venues are filled with hundreds of installers all working for different companies and all focused on getting their own jobs done in the midst of the exhibition hall chaos. There are trucks moving in every direction, transport cases being wheeled across the exhibition hall, stands half-constructed and power tools here, there and everywhere. It’s a powder keg of health and safety risks.

For this reason, it is vital that everyone involved has a good understanding of the risks and that processes are in place to minimise these risks.

Safety Campaigns

In recent years multiple campaigns have been introduced focused on improving industry processes and making exhibition stand installation safer for everyone involved.

  • Stop the Drop – The Stop the Drop awareness campaign aims to promote contractor safety when working at height. Almost all exhibition stand installations will require the use of ladders or lifting machinery at some point and this can pose significant risks if not performed properly.
  • Work Right “Dust Kills” – The Work Right “Dust Kills” campaign seeks to bring awareness to the serious health complications that can, and have, resulted from long-term exposure to construction dust. Construction dust has been linked to lung disease and many other chronic long-term lung conditions, so reducing workers’ exposure is vital.

Constructing historically-standard custom build exhibition stands involves the cutting and drilling of wood and metal which releases large amounts of dust and debris into the air. While installers working on that particular stand may be wearing masks, it’s unlikely that everyone else in the exhibition hall will be, so they will inevitably be inhaling the fumes.

Safe exhibition stand installation with Quadrant2Design

Quadrant2Design values the health and safety of our employees and customers and we have fully aligned our business practices to reflect this.

Clean process stand system

We work exclusively with the Prestige Events exhibition stand system; a modular system in which all components come fully manufactured and connect together into almost any stand size and shape. Installation can typically be completed by a single person and requires no power tools or harmful substances.

Components come fully manufactured, so installation does not produce any dust, waste or fumes and, because the structure is extremely lightweight, any high-level components can be installed using ladders rather than heavy-duty lifting equipment.

This clean and machinery-free construction process is much safer for our installation team, as well as customers wanting to build their own stand.

Highly-trained installers

Quadrant2Design never outsource installation; we have our own team of expert exhibition stand installers who are highly trained, familiar with all major UK venues and experts in the Prestige Events System.

Our installers are responsible for the installation and dismantling of stands at exhibition venues, as well as pre-building each stand and professionally transporting them to and from venues; meaning each step of the process is covered by a team of our experts.

All of our installers receive comprehensive training on the installation of our stands, including all of the various bespoke features. Our training programme contains detailed health and safety procedures which includes the proper use of ladders both within our pre-build facility and onsite at exhibition venues.

All of our installers are supplied with the appropriate equipment, which includes the correct type of ladder, and all of our equipment is well-maintained and serviced regularly to check for damage or excessive wear and tear.

Full self-build training

For our customers wanting to purchase and self-build their stand, we offer full installation training at our Poole facility, plus detailed stand plans and free ongoing access to our training animations and video resources.

Quadrant2Design’s safe exhibition stand installation processes, combined with the fantastic Prestige Events System, produce a safe and secure work environment for our installers and self-building customers, that also results in the most eye-catching, attention-grabbing exhibition stands. That’s a win for everyone!
