Frequently asked questions

At PJ Leisure we frequently get asked questions and have set up a FAQs page that give many of the answers to our fantastic customers questions. In this blog we are going to cover one of the most asked questions we get asked almost every day " How much do they cost"

Our Bouncy Castles are bought from one of the most popular and longest trading companies in the U.K. they are manufactured to the latest Health & Safety requirements and PIPA requirements. Made from the strongest PVC on the market and come complete with hand painted themes.

So here is my answer to how much do they cost for your typical 12x14ft Child Bouncy Castles with a PIPA Test Certificates 2019.

12x14ft castle £850

PIPA test certificate £50

Extension Lead £30

Electric Generator £120

Crash Matts £100

Ground Sheet £20

Public Liability £20 per hire

Pegs £24

Castle and Accessories £1214 + VAT for many of the items.

We then hire our 12x14ft Bouncy Castles out at £50 per day taking approximately 25 hires before we begin to make a profit on that particular castle. There are many more overheads to consider before making a profit such as your website costs, advertising, van costs such as insurance, diesel, and running repair costs and then there's staff wages. All these have to be taken into account when setting our price structure for our Inflatables.

You can see from the costs above that for any one particular Bouncy Castle it is at least 12 months before any Inflatable makes you a profit. At PJ Leisure we have been operating our Bouncy Castle Hire Business for our 22nd year, you can find out more About Us by checking the highlighted page. Being the owner of PJ Leisure i have also had a full time job in the fire service for the last 30 years before retiring in September 2016 and now being the full time Local Bouncy Castle Company to Salford and surrounding Manchester area. Having now retired it has become that much more easier to maintain and clean our inflatables after the weekends hire's.

There are advantages and many disadvantages to working in this Industry and below are some of the main reasons :-

Advantages

  • You get to meet lots of lovely people
  • My children loved having there own Bouncy Castles.
  • Your own Boss
  • Plenty of fresh air working outdoors
  • Good part time wage
  • Busy for six months of the year & then 6 months chilling

Disadvantages

  • Many injuries & wear and tear on the body bad back, hernia, shoulder opp, snapped bicep definitely young mans game.
  • Poor English weather many wet and dirty castles that need drying off and cleaning before next hire.
  • Weekends late night finishes and most of the summer working

Would i change and do anything different probably not I've met some great people had some great hire's had hire's from hell lol but most of all I have enjoyed the business and seen the Industry improve safety standards over the years and had a very good standard of living.
